They passed a man hustling roses on the street corner. A pair of headlights flashed past their faces. Their feet crashed into the pavement as they ran up a winding street from the center of the city. He couldn't tell if she was leading him or if he led her, but they both seemed to know where they were going.

The dwellings of his city housed so many of the beauties he had loved, why did this place look different? The place to be. He saw a muted light lingering beneath the door, and heard a faint instrumental tune departing the same opening. A roommate sat poised, in a puff of smoke, speaking Nepalese into the phone. She joked, "he is an escaped convict", but he wondered how much of it was a joke.

Two Tintin posters with black frames that she had purchased in Beijing adorned the opposing walls of her painted bedroom. He could read the adventures he knew she had been on by the decor of this room. He wondered if his adventures could do battle with hers as he stripped off her clothes to reveal black lace against perfect skin...
